“I started as Plant Manager at Corex’s Imatra mill in January 2024. I applied for the position because the role sounded exactly like what I had been looking for: a responsible position where I could make an impact and develop large-scale operations.
Before my current role, I worked as Investment and Sustainability Manager at UPM Timber and as Production Manager at UPM Kaukas sawmill. My career background has given me a strong foundation for my current role.”
"The varied daily life of a plant manager"
As a plant manager, my work is extremely varied. My days consist of handling personnel matters, planning for the future, driving various development projects, and managing overall operations. My workdays vary greatly, and no two days are alike.
Collaboration with the staff plays a key role in this job. We seek solutions together; there’s no need or point in doing things alone. For example, we’ve been looking for ways to make staff members’ daily tasks easier and to incorporate more automation into our operations. These efforts bring tangible benefits to our day-to-day work and make our operations run more smoothly.

I especially appreciate the staff at the Imatra plant. There is a wealth of experience and expertise here, and it’s great to work with people who truly know and understand their jobs. I could highlight several individuals, but for example, Jere Lehvonen, who leads daily operations, is a top-notch professional whose high level of expertise amazes me every day.
