Modern production processes
The Pori cardboard factory produces cardboard from recycled pulp. Core cardboard is made from recycled paper pulp, the raw materials of which include corrugated cardboard, mixed recycled paper, such as newspapers and magazines, consumer packaging, various wrappers, and recycled cardboard.
The raw material is delivered to the factory in bales, rolls, and bulk. At the recycled pulp factory, the raw fiber material is pulped into recycled pulp, which is pumped through the grinders into the mixing tank and further into the machine tank, and through the machine screen into the headbox of the cardboard machine. From there, the mixture is applied to the wire part of the cardboard machine, where starch is fed to the web to increase its strength. The web is then led through the wire, press, and drying section of the cardboard machine.
Starting from the machine rolls produced by the cardboard machine, customer rolls are cut with a length cutter, which is packed and transported to an intermediate warehouse or directly to cars to be transported either to the port or to the customer factory.
Most of the cardboard produced in Pori is used for the production of cores in other factories of the VPK Group. The production runs around the clock.
